Your Holiness,

With deep sorrow I have taken the disturbing news about a serious physical illness that has befallen you and would like to express to you my brotherly support and sincere compassion.

I am deeply worried about your difficult condition and I am ardently praying to the Merciful Lord that He, as the true Healer of our souls and bodies, may give you physical strength and raise you speedily from the bed of illness in complete health and perfection and that He may grant you to your flock in good health and peace.

The perfidious disease, which has stricken the whole world, has spared nobody today – for we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth (Rom. 8:22), while we, being firmly aware that the Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation (Ps. 68:19), have trust in His help and ask Him to show mercy for the human race.

I would like to note with special appreciation that in your person the Russian Orthodox Church has a good and faithful friend and active co-worker in the field of Christian witness. Even in this difficult time, the relations between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Malankara Church have been fruitfully developed thanks to the Working Group for Bilateral Cooperation created with the participation of the both of us.

May the Lord Pantocrator send to Your Holiness physical strength and safeguard the now suffering people of India against the pernicious infection.
